Mastering Communication Now

Improving Non-Verbal, Oral, and Written Communication Skills

SPCC's 2023 Quality Enhancement Plan defined a need to improve the following Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs):

  • Delivery: applying the appropriate style, context, and delivery techniques for an intended audience.
  • Information Literacy: ethically utilizing credible and relevant resources to support arguments in their message.
  • Development: present content using established conventions, effective visual aids, and appropriate organization strategies.

To aid in in the continued improvement of these core skills, the QEP proposed the creation of the Multimedia Information & Communication Center or MIC Center. The MIC Center will have a physical and virtual presence to serve students and will incorporate a full film and audio studio, access to Adobe creative suite and other programs, Niche Academy virtual learning, physical work stations, and more.
